Start With a Free Roof Inspection

We check your roof and show you what we find. See what the inspection covers. If hail or wind damaged your roof, our insurance claims page explains how we help.

Where three counties meet on I-35 South

Lytle sits where Atascosa, Medina, and Bexar Counties meet, on I-35 South between San Antonio and Devine. SH 132 and FM 2790 cross town, so a single street can fall under different county offices once you leave city limits. Being on the county line means we confirm which office issues the permit before a replacement.

In town you see asphalt shingles on homes, some low-slope sections over porches or additions, and metal on shops and outbuildings as you move toward acreage. After hail or wind we photograph the roof and set up repair when that is enough — or a full replacement when the field is worn out.

Rattler Roofing is family-owned and based in San Antonio. Mike Bailey named the company after the Rattlers at Reagan High School and St. Mary’s University. About 70% of our work is roofing; about 30% is remodeling. Call or text (210) 418-ROOF, 7 AM to 7 PM.

Shingles, low-slope, and metal

Architectural shingles from brands such as GAF, CertainTeed, Owens Corning, and Malarkey are the usual residential replacement, including Class 3 and Class 4 impact-rated options. Every full replacement includes our 10-year workmanship warranty. See Roof Replacement.

Low-slope sections need different detailing than a steep shingle field — we call that out on the inspection instead of treating the whole house as one product. Metal standing seam and exposed-fastener panels are common on accessory buildings and some homes. See Metal Roofing. Tile: Tile Roofing. Ventilation: Roof Ventilation.

Storms on the south corridor

I-35 South takes the same Central Texas hail and wind that hit Medina and Atascosa County towns. Bruised shingles, lifted tabs, backed-out screws on metal, and failed flashings at walls and chimneys show up after spring storms. Stay off the roof. We document damage and can meet your adjuster. You file the claim; we do not waive or rebate deductibles. See Hail Damage Roof Repair, Wind Damage Roof Repair, and Insurance Claims.

Open south-corridor fetch can push wind across some Lytle blocks harder than a sheltered inner-loop street. Ridge tabs and metal ridge caps get extra attention on our inspections.

Repair vs replace

A few tabs, a boot, a short flashing run, or a run of backed-out screws is often a repair. When the field is brittle or hail-bruised house-wide, or metal panels are rusted through, we recommend replacement and show you why with photos. Soft decking gets photographed before we change it.

Permits in Lytle

The City of Lytle Building Permits & Inspections division handles building permits inside city limits. Applications are submitted electronically through the city’s online system, and contractor registration is required before performing work. If you are unsure whether a specific roof project needs a permit, the city directs people to contact the Building Department. Outside city limits, the same “Lytle” mailing address may sit in Atascosa, Medina, or Bexar County unincorporated areas with different rules — we check the address first. Texas does not issue a statewide roofing license; city registration and local permitting are what matter inside Lytle. We pull what is required before we start.

How a job usually runs

Free on-roof inspection with photos, written estimate, then scheduled work. Most shingle reroofs finish in a day; metal and mixed-slope jobs take the time the details need. Debris is hauled away; we use magnets around driveways and livestock areas when fasteners are involved. You walk the finished roof with us. Licensed with the City of San Antonio and other municipalities as required, insured. Hours 7 AM–7 PM.

If you are comparing bids, ask who registers with Lytle, who pulls any required permit, and who meets the inspector. Skipping that step is not a savings.

Highway noise, real inspections

Lytle sits on a busy corridor, but we still get on the roof — binoculars from I-35 are not an inspection. For acreage homes we can stage from a side drive when the frontage is tight. Metal shops get fastener and seam checks; houses get full shingle-field walks with photos of every slope.
