Repair or replace, honestly

Clay and Concrete Tile

Clay tile

Fired clay tile, often the red barrel or S-shaped tile on Spanish and Mediterranean-style homes. It holds its color well but can crack if it’s walked on the wrong way or hit by hail.

Concrete tile

Concrete tile comes in flat and S-shaped styles and many colors. It’s heavy and durable, but it can crack, chip and fade over time.

Common Tile Roof Problems

  • Cracked or broken tiles from hail, falling limbs or foot traffic.
  • Slipped or missing tiles that leave the layer underneath exposed.
  • Worn underlayment. The tile sheds most of the water, and the underlayment under it keeps out the rest. When it wears out, leaks can start even if the tile looks fine.
  • Flashing problems at walls, chimneys, valleys and vents.
  • Storm damage from hail and high winds.

Please don’t walk on your tile roof. Tile can crack under foot and it’s slippery. Let us do the climbing.

Storm Damage and Insurance

Hail and high winds can crack, chip and lift tile, and the damage is often hard to see from the ground. We inspect the roof and photograph what we find, so you can decide whether to file a claim.

If you file, we can help you with filing your claim and getting in touch with your insurance agent. Our insurance claims page explains how the process works, and Hail Damage Roof Repair covers what hail does to a roof.

Tile Roof FAQ

Can a few broken tiles be replaced?
Usually, yes. We replace cracked or broken tiles with matching tile when we can find it, and reset tiles that have slipped.
My tile looks fine, so why is my roof leaking?
Most tile roofs depend on the underlayment under the tile to keep water out. If it’s worn or torn, or the flashing has failed, water can get in even when the tile looks fine from the ground.
What is an underlayment re-lay?
We remove the tile, replace the underlayment and reset the same tile, replacing any broken pieces. It makes sense when most of the tile is still in good shape.
Do you work on both clay and concrete tile?
Yes. We repair, re-lay and replace both clay and concrete tile roofs.
Can you tarp my tile roof after a storm?
Yes. If your roof is open or leaking, call or text (210) 418-7663 and we can tarp it to keep water out until it’s repaired.
Can you help with an insurance claim for storm damage?
Yes. We inspect and photograph the damage, and we can help you with filing your claim and getting in touch with your insurance agent. See our insurance claims page.
