Owens Corning Duration Teak Roof in San Antonio

A full tear-off and a new roof of Owens Corning Duration shingles in Teak, a brown blend, on a brick home in San Antonio.

About This Project

This brick home in San Antonio has tall front gables, hip roofs on every side, a chimney and a covered back patio. When we inspected the roof, the old shingles were worn and faded, so we replaced the whole roof.

We tore the old shingles off down to the decking, dried the roof in with synthetic underlayment and installed new Owens Corning Duration shingles in Teak, with matching hip and ridge caps. Teak is a brown blend that mixes tan and darker brown tones, so the roof looks warm against the brick.

The old roof

Worn, faded shingles on the ridges, hips and around the chimney. This is what we found when we first looked at the roof.

Tear-off

We stripped the old shingles down to the decking, so we could see the wood before anything new went on.

Underlayment and new shingles

Synthetic underlayment went down over the whole roof deck, and the Owens Corning Duration bundles were staged on the ridges.
