Start With a Free Roof Inspection

We check your roof and show you what we find. See what the inspection covers. If hail or wind damaged your roof, our insurance claims page explains how we help.

Southeast Bexar town

China Grove is a small town in southeast Bexar County between San Antonio and Elmendorf. Quiet residential streets, larger lots, and a mix of older and newer homes define the place. Architectural shingles are standard; metal appears on outbuildings and some houses.

We drive southeast Bexar for free on-roof inspections. No street-side guesswork — we get on the roof and show you the photos.

Rattler Roofing is family-owned and based in San Antonio. Mike Bailey named the company after the Rattlers at Reagan High School and St. Mary’s University. About 70% of our work is roofing; about 30% is remodeling. Call or text (210) 418-ROOF, 7 AM to 7 PM.

Hail tracks and aging layers

Southeast Bexar takes repeated spring hail. Older roofs can have two layers; we tell you if a tear-off to the deck is required. Wind damage along ridges and hips is common after storms.

Architectural shingles from brands such as GAF, CertainTeed, Owens Corning, and Malarkey are what most homes here wear and what we replace most often, including Class 3 and Class 4 impact-rated options. Every full replacement includes our 10-year workmanship warranty. See Roof Replacement.

Double-lock standing seam formed on site from McElroy Metal coil with hidden clips, plus R-panel on outbuildings when that is the better fit. Metal still dents in heavy hail — we explain that before you order. See Metal Roofing.

Repair, replacement, insurance

Targeted roof repair often fixes a few wind-torn tabs, a failed pipe boot, or a localized leak. When the field is brittle or hail-bruised across slopes, we recommend replacement, tear off to the deck, replace soft wood we document with photos, and install synthetic underlayment with ice-and-water shield in valleys. Every full replacement includes our 10-year workmanship warranty.

After a storm, stay off the roof. We document damage and can meet your adjuster. You file the claim; Texas law does not allow a contractor to waive or rebate your deductible. See Hail Damage Roof Repair, Wind Damage Roof Repair, and Insurance Claims.

Permits in China Grove

The Town of China Grove handles building permits inside town limits. We confirm the parcel and pull permits when required. City/town registration is the local credential — we do not claim a Texas statewide roofing license.

How a job usually runs

Every job starts with a free on-roof inspection. We get up on the roof, photograph problem areas, and go over the photos with you before anyone orders materials. You get a written estimate. If a repair will protect the house, we say so. If the roof is past that point, we show you why. On tear-offs we remove the old roofing down to the deck, replace soft wood we find and document with photos, and install synthetic underlayment with ice-and-water shield in valleys. Debris is hauled away. Licensed with the City of San Antonio and other municipalities where permits are required, and insured. Hours are 7 AM to 7 PM, every day — call or text.

Tear-off honesty

If China Grove homes have two shingle layers, we tell you before we bid a recover. Texas and local practice often require tear-off to the deck for a proper warranty path. Soft wood gets replaced after you see the photos. We do not hide deck repairs in a vague “misc” line.

Paying for the work

Financing through outside lenders (credit approval required), or cash / check / card. See Financing.

What we look for on a China Grove roof

On a typical China Grove inspection we check every slope, ridge, hip, valley, pipe boot, wall flashing, and chimney counterflashing. Soft decking underfoot gets marked and photographed. Granule loss, bruise marks that show as dark spots when shingles are flexed, and creased tabs along the windward edge all go into the report. On metal we look for fastener back-out, open seams, dent patterns from hail, and failed sealant at transitions. You get the photos with the written estimate so you can see what we saw — not a generic pitch. If a small repair will keep water out for years, we say so. If the roof is at the end of its life in Bexar County’s hail climate, we show you why a full tear-off is the better spend.
