East Bexar town

St. Hedwig is a town in eastern Bexar County east of San Antonio toward La Vernia and Seguin. Rural roads, larger lots, and a mix of older and newer homes define the area. Architectural shingles are common; metal covers many outbuildings.

Our photo index includes a St. Hedwig-area shingle install. Every new job still gets a fresh free inspection with photos of your roof.

Rattler Roofing is family-owned and based in San Antonio. Mike Bailey named the company after the Rattlers at Reagan High School and St. Mary’s University. About 70% of our work is roofing; about 30% is remodeling. Call or text (210) 418-ROOF, 7 AM to 7 PM.

East-county hail

Hail and wind that cross eastern Bexar leave bruised mats and wind-torn tabs. We document damage and can meet your adjuster. You file the claim; Texas law bars contractors from waiving deductibles.

Architectural shingles from brands such as GAF, CertainTeed, Owens Corning, and Malarkey are what most homes here wear and what we replace most often, including Class 3 and Class 4 impact-rated options. Every full replacement includes our 10-year workmanship warranty. See Roof Replacement.

Double-lock standing seam formed on site from McElroy Metal coil with hidden clips, plus R-panel on outbuildings when that is the better fit. Metal still dents in heavy hail — we explain that before you order. See Metal Roofing. See Roof Replacement.

Repair, replacement, insurance

Targeted roof repair often fixes a few wind-torn tabs, a failed pipe boot, or a localized leak. When the field is brittle or hail-bruised across slopes, we recommend replacement, tear off to the deck, replace soft wood we document with photos, and install synthetic underlayment with ice-and-water shield in valleys. Every full replacement includes our 10-year workmanship warranty.

After a storm, stay off the roof. We document damage and can meet your adjuster. You file the claim; Texas law does not allow a contractor to waive or rebate your deductible. See Hail Damage Roof Repair, Wind Damage Roof Repair, and Insurance Claims.

Permits in St. Hedwig

The Town of St. Hedwig handles building permits inside town limits. We register and pull permits as required. Local town credentials — not a statewide Texas roofing license — are what we follow.

How a job usually runs

Every job starts with a free on-roof inspection. We get up on the roof, photograph problem areas, and go over the photos with you before anyone orders materials. You get a written estimate. If a repair will protect the house, we say so. If the roof is past that point, we show you why. On tear-offs we remove the old roofing down to the deck, replace soft wood we find and document with photos, and install synthetic underlayment with ice-and-water shield in valleys. Debris is hauled away. Licensed with the City of San Antonio and other municipalities where permits are required, and insured. Hours are 7 AM to 7 PM, every day — call or text.

Rural access

St. Hedwig parcels can mean longer driveways and multiple structures. We plan truck and trailer access so we are not chewing up a soft yard after rain. Inspection photos cover house and outbuildings when you ask, with separate estimate sections for each.

Paying for the work

Financing through outside lenders (credit approval required), or cash / check / card. See Financing.

What we look for on a St. Hedwig roof

On a typical St. Hedwig inspection we check every slope, ridge, hip, valley, pipe boot, wall flashing, and chimney counterflashing. Soft decking underfoot gets marked and photographed. Granule loss, bruise marks that show as dark spots when shingles are flexed, and creased tabs along the windward edge all go into the report. On metal we look for fastener back-out, open seams, dent patterns from hail, and failed sealant at transitions. You get the photos with the written estimate so you can see what we saw — not a generic pitch. If a small repair will keep water out for years, we say so. If the roof is at the end of its life in Bexar County’s hail climate, we show you why a full tear-off is the better spend.
